Gov. Baker to Host Chanukah Menorah Lighting

The Massachusetts State House will host a special Chanukah display featuring a GIANT 18-FOOT MENORAH!

A special reception and lighting ceremony will be held at The Grand Staircase Rotunda indoors 2nd floor of the State House on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 4:00 P.M.

Governor Charlie Baker, Lt. Gov. Karen Polito, Speaker Robert DeLeo, Senate Majority Leader Harriet Chandler, Secretary of State William Galvin, State Auditor Suzanne Bump, Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, Attorney General Maura Healy, and other State officials will join Rabbi Rachmiel Liberman of Congregation Lubavitch Synagogue in Lighting the large Menorah, celebrating the eight- day Jewish Holiday. 

Governor Baker, Speaker DeLeo, and Rabbi Liberman will be hoisted by scissor lift to reach the huge Menorah. 

The ceremony will include a musical interlude and vocal presentations by local students of the Schechter Day School. Refreshments will be served. 

The event is sponsored by Speaker DeLeo & cosponsored by Congregation Lubavitch Synagogue.  It is open to the public.

A joyous Chanukah celebration will take place on Sunday, December 6th from 4:45 – 5:15 PM. In Downtown Crossing, on SUMMER STREET in front of MACY’S

Mayor Marty Walsh will join the Israel Consul General – Yehuda Yaacov and Rabbi Rachmiel Liberman of Congregation Lubavitch Synagogue, and hundreds from the Jewish Community in Lighting a GIANT 15-FOOT MENORAH, with real flames. Signaling the start of the eight day Jewish Holiday.

The event will also feature a live musical concert by the 17 piece UNITED STATES NAVY BAND & refreshments will be served.

It is open to the public free of charge.
